Importance of Animals Rights

Animals have some similarities to human beings because they are conscious and they are responsive. There are many pet owners in this world who would quickly tell you that animals are unique and they are precious in their own identity, and they should certainly be loved and nurtured. There are people who think that animals cannot feel pain or because their intelligence is lower than human beings that they should not be given the care and nourishment that most pet owners generously give to them.

There are many people today who do not care about the lives of animals and they don’t see the animals’ right to life that they deserve. There are other who believe that humans are above all animals and makes a moral distinction between them. There are also those who don’t believe that animals feel, sense, or experience like humans do and that they should not be give a status equal to humans but lower than them. These beliefs came from a faulty sense of righteousness and entitlements. When the cognitive biases are overcome, the reality that all animals do have rights becomes significant.

Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. Humans have been known to wreak havoc on some sensitive ecosystems in the world like turning rainforests into flat plains and coral reefs into ocean deserts. Destroying this natural ecosystem deprives many animals of clean and safe living places. That is why animal rights and the green movement are closely linked to each other.

Using animals for products is perhaps one of the most disconcerting displays of human greed that has grown in popularity. When there is economic incentive, then mortality is disregarded altogether. For example, elephants are killed for their tusks, sharks are killed for their fins, and other people who kill animals because of the commodity they get from it. They are disregarding the basic rights of animals to live in exchange for the dollar sign. Viable alternatives to animal products should be considered if we believe that animals have the right to live free of suffering.

The core beliefs of animal rights activities are guided by their unwavering morality. Below are some of these rights that animals rights advocates believe in.

Animals have consciousness and should not be compared to machines or objects. Animals have interests of their own. Human beings should be responsible to respect interests of animals. Animals should not be exploited by human beings. If humans treat animals as objects then they are violating animal rights. Humans have no right to kill animals.

If one is to discuss animal rights in its entirety , then you can come up with volumes of the subject.
